We cut virtually all of our tiles from slabs of terra-cotta (sizes up to 15" square are
available) and as with all of our products most of our image range is accessible to this
medium. The tile is not fired (if it were it would not be possible to replicate identically
the original artwork ), it is made durable by a technique of various resins. The finished
result is extremely hard-wearing, the only thing we do not recommend you do with them
is place them in a floor where there is heavy foot traffic - they can be used for
decoration or placed in walls inside or out - the damp or rain will not effect them.
Each tile is a recreated museum masterpiece, completely made by hand and no two
alike, each going through several aging techniques to complete the finished look. Most
of the tiles mimic those found in european buildings 2-300 years ago, that together
with rare and unusual (tile) images makes for a very unique product.
The back of most of the tiles are very detailed (see image) each carries a rusted wire
hook (to hang), felt bumpers to avoid scratching a wall, an E company stamp and are
dated upon creation, all have full history labels.
If you are a designer and are trying to match a theme then we believe this is the first
time history can open its 'tiled' doors to you, we can even work with your images.
